Benefits of becoming accredited

We are pleased to offer a new Accreditation scheme to Micro-providers in Somerset. At the time of writing there are over 400 services that are successfully accredited.

Benefits of accreditation include:

  • Recognition and validation as an approved provider
  • Free “Accredited Micro-provider” photo ID badge
  • Registered on online and paper directories of Micro-providers with a ‘quality mark’
  • Eligibility to apply to join Somerset’s Micro-provider Peer networks and their ‘sourcing care’ groups
  • Access to work NHS and SCC funded work opportunities.

The documents required for accreditation are:

  • Enhanced DBS Check (within 3 years)
  • Public Liability Insurance
  • Terms of Service (or Contract)
  • Template Support Plan
  • Complaints Procedure

If you are missing any of these please email communityenterprise@somerset.gov.uk and we will help you.

It is possible to register without being accredited. This is suitable for lower level services that do not provide personal care or 1:1 support at home or in the community. Providers who are not accredited are still subject to the Community Micro-enterprise Programme ‘Doing it Right’ Quality Standards.

Providers who are not accredited will not have the quality badge or be considered for personal care roles by the Somerset County Council or the Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group.
